Managing Large-Scale LLM Training with AWS ParallelCluster: A Real-World Implementation

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been selected as a supplier of GPU resources for the ‘AI for Research’ project hosted by KAIT, the Korea Association for ICT Promotion. As part of this initiative, 30 p5en.48xlarge instances with 240 H200 GPUs were provided to AI research teams across several institutions in South Korea for eight months. The participating institutions included KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH), Seoul National University (SNU), HanYang University (HYU), SungKyunKwan University (SKKU), and Korea University. The goal was to provide high-performance GPU infrastructure for national AI research teams, enabling them to conduct large-scale LLM training efficiently.
