Managers' Busywork Increases with AI Use, Contrary to Expectations

A recent report has shed light on the unintended consequences of using artificial intelligence (AI) assistants in the workplace. Despite widespread adoption, managers are finding that their busywork actually increases when they use these tools.

The study, conducted by In Parallel, surveyed 247 managers across various countries and found that nearly 90% of respondents use AI at work. However, this has not led to a reduction in coordination friction – the time spent on tasks such as re-explaining context and searching for data that already exists.
