The Isle of Palms (IOP) Police Department has expanded its vehicle fleet with the addition of a Tesla Model S. The new electric vehicle will be used for official department business and community events, according to police officials.

After being equipped with emergency lights, sirens, and other necessary public safety equipment, the Tesla Model S is now ready for duty. It will be assigned to Police Chief Kevin Cornett for use in his official capacity.

The IOP PD obtained the vehicle through a generous donation from local residents Jeff and Melissa Polluta. The department expressed its gratitude for their contribution, which not only saves resources but also provides an opportunity to engage with the community.

Police Chief Kevin Cornett noted that the Tesla Model S will help avoid premature replacement of fleet vehicles while serving as a unique tool for public outreach. It is expected to make appearances at community events and official police functions.

The addition of this electric vehicle marks a significant upgrade to the IOP PD’s fleet, allowing them to stay connected with residents in a more modern way.
