Google Launches Gemini for Automating Legal Work
Google’s new AI tool, Gemini, is designed to make legal work more efficient by automating contracts and research. This move comes as part of a broader lineup of industry-specific AI solutions from Google Cloud.
Gemini Enterprise for Legal lets the AI model connect with various legal systems and specialized services through MCP connectors. This allows it to review contracts, conduct thorough research, and track regulatory changes without disrupting existing access permissions.
The tool integrates seamlessly with partners like Deloitte, offering pre-built AI agents that can summarize contracts. These ‘skills’ are customizable and come bundled with connections to relevant data sources, making them easy to execute and edit.
Google is initially targeting law firms and corporate legal departments with Gemini. For now, the product is available in preview form alongside a similar offering for financial services. Versions for healthcare and life sciences will soon follow.
Anthropic already offers plugin-based solutions that share similarities with Google’s industry-specific offerings. These packages feature pre-built prompts and connections to relevant data sources, but it remains to be seen how they compare to Gemini.
