Automate Motion Control with Integrated Electronic Actuators

·

At the recent Automate show, PBC Linear unveiled a new lineup of heavy-duty, belt-driven actuators designed to handle long travel distances and substantial payloads. These electric actuators can move up to 6 meters and support loads of up to 8,000 pounds.

The innovative design embeds control electronics directly into the rod-style actuators, eliminating the need for external drive enclosures. This approach streamlines motion control by reducing field wiring and accelerating commissioning times.

Machine designers are increasingly recognizing that linear axis selection is a system-level decision, rather than just an individual component choice. However, many engineers still rely on outdated specification habits that fail to account for this shift in perspective.

By integrating electronic controls into actuators, control engineers can implement a cabinet-free motion strategy. This not only reduces the complexity of machine design but also speeds up commissioning times and minimizes maintenance requirements.

PBC Linear’s new lineup is poised to revolutionize motion control by providing a comprehensive solution for heavy-duty applications. As manufacturers continue to seek ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs, integrated electronic actuators are likely to become an essential component of their designs.
