ChatGPT Enhances Complex Topic Understanding with Interactive Tools and Graphics
OpenAI has begun rolling out Intelligent UI, a new feature for eligible users of ChatGPT. This update allows the chatbot to provide more comprehensive responses by incorporating graphics, interactive tools, charts, and forms to explain complex topics in an easier-to-understand format.
The rollout is currently available to all users in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the wider Middle East, including those on the Free and Go tiers. However, OpenAI has not specified regional launch timing or local prices for these regions, so users should check their ChatGPT account for access.
Intelligent UI aims to enhance the user experience by providing a more engaging way of presenting information. For example, if a user asks about the design of a 7-speed bike, ChatGPT will share an image with buttons and sliders that allow the user to select each part individually and move it away from the rest for closer inspection.
OpenAI has shared several examples of how Intelligent UI can be used in various contexts. In learning experiences, relevant images, charts, and diagrams are added to better explain the subject matter. For instance, if a user is trying to track their investment growth, they will receive a dedicated space with buttons and sliders to adjust their investment amount, expected return rate, and projected overall returns.
Additional lifestyle examples include wardrobe trials for vacations, images and maps for road-trip plans, and to-do lists, shopping lists, and menus for hosting a Sunday brunch. OpenAI has emphasized the importance of providing users with a familiar design foundation while giving the model room to decide how the pieces fit together.
GPT-6 began rolling out last month, and Intelligent UI is now available to all users, including those on the Free and Go tiers. Alongside this update, OpenAI has also introduced a College Planner for ChatGPT for Teens, which helps students prepare for college by providing spaces to plan applications, track deadlines, research schools, and understand financial aid.
However, it’s worth noting that a recent study found that the teen experience isn’t doing enough to ensure safety. Despite this, OpenAI continues to develop features aimed at enhancing user engagement and understanding of complex topics.
