Tencent has launched an internal beta test for its new platform, WorkSolo, which enables creators to produce high-quality content using artificial intelligence. The platform supports a range of creative functions, including AI short dramas, interactive film and games, free canvas, and other related scenarios. This marks the latest development in Tencent’s efforts to establish itself as a major player in the field of AI-generated image creation tools for businesses and individuals alike.

According to sources close to the company, WorkSolo is being developed by the Intelligent Creation Platform Department of Tencent Video. The department has previously launched another platform called WorkRally, which focuses on industrial-grade AI production for high-quality manhua dramas. While WorkRally targets institutional teams and large-scale projects, WorkSolo appears to be geared towards individual creators who need a more streamlined process.

The positioning of the two platforms is clearly differentiated, indicating that Tencent Video has adopted a tiered approach to its AIGC content layout. This strategy allows the company to cater to different types of creators and production needs, from industrial-grade projects to lightweight short dramas and interactive content. WorkSolo’s internal testing phase suggests that it will eventually be launched as a standalone platform.

WorkSolo offers three core creation modes: AI Short Drama, Interactive Film and Television, and Free Canvas. The AI Short Drama mode enables creators to produce short episodes and micro films by inputting text inspiration or uploading images. This process supports script generation and AI video production, making it suitable for adapting online novels into short dramas or creating continuous plot content for short videos.

The platform’s Interactive Film and Television feature allows for zero-code production of interactive film and games, with the ability to construct branch plots and multi-ending content. This is a key differentiator from other AI video tools on the market. Free Canvas provides an open and unlimited creation space where creators can experiment without restrictions.

WorkSolo also includes a ‘Work Library’ feature that allows users to save their created works for future reference or distribution. In terms of commercialization, WorkSolo adopts a freemium model with three membership tiers: free experience, basic membership, and premium membership. The platform uses points as its currency, which can be earned through registration, daily login rewards, or purchased top-up packages.

Free experience members have access to limited AI video capabilities suitable for novice creators, while basic members receive 900 points per month with a maximum of 900 images and 200 videos generated. Premium members get 3000 points per month, allowing them to produce more complex content. All members can purchase point top-up packages at discounted rates, with both monthly and annual payment options available.

The platform’s business model is designed to support creators throughout the production process, from creation to distribution and monetization. After completing their videos on WorkSolo, creators have the opportunity to distribute them through Tencent Video channels and participate in content revenue sharing. This closed-loop system aims to provide a seamless experience for creators and help them achieve stable income.

Tencent’s official recruitment platform has listed several job openings for WorkSolo located in Los Angeles, USA. While it is unclear whether an independent overseas version of the platform will be launched or if product capabilities will be adapted separately for international markets, this development suggests that Tencent may be planning to expand its reach globally.

The emergence of WorkSolo marks a significant shift in the AIGC tool arms race, which has been heating up in recent months. Competitors like iQiyi’s Nadou Pro and Mango TV’s Mango Lingchuang have launched their own platforms focusing on industrial-grade AI production for professional teams or relying on copyright script resources to attract creators.

However, industry experts agree that simply competing in generation capabilities is not enough to build long-term barriers. Creators need tools that support the entire content creation process, from production to distribution and monetization. A platform’s ability to provide a closed loop of creation tools, traffic channels, and commercial monetization is what sets it apart as a true competitor.

Tencent Video appears to be taking a differentiated path by building a two-tier system with WorkRally for industrial-grade manhua drama creation and WorkSolo for lightweight individual creator needs. As WorkSolo continues its internal testing phase, the platform may reshape the competition pattern in the AI short drama and interactive drama creation track.
