Google's Gemini AI Experiences Widespread Outage

A significant number of users are experiencing issues with Google's Gemini artificial intelligence tool, which appears to be down for many. If you're trying to use Gemini and encountering error messages, you're not alone.

Downdetector, a website that tracks user reports of downtime across various apps, sites, and services, is showing thousands of complaints about Gemini starting from around 6:19 a.m. ET on Wednesday morning.

The issues began small but quickly escalated as the day went on, with a sharp increase in reports after 8 a.m. It's likely that users on the East Coast were among those affected first, given their time zone.

Google's official Workspace status page confirms an 'incident' with Gemini, which started at 10:26 a.m. UTC (6:26 a.m. ET). The company has yet to provide any details about what caused the problem or when it will be resolved.

As of 11:10 a.m. ET on Wednesday morning, Google still hasn't fixed the issue. Users are seeing 'Something Went Wrong' errors across Gemini's macOS, iOS, Android, and web apps, as well as with Gemini in Chrome.

Google has posted an update to its status page acknowledging the problem but providing no estimated time for a fix. While these outages can be frustrating, they're not uncommon even among large companies like Google.
