Endava Embeds AI Across Organization, Redesigning Software Delivery

Global technology services company Endava has been helping enterprises solve complex business problems through technology for over 25 years. As the industry continues to evolve, Endava's mission is increasingly centered on artificial intelligence (AI). Adopting AI wasn't just about introducing new tools – it required a fundamental shift in workflows and leadership behaviors.

Endava's Chief Technology Officer Matthew Cloke explains that adopting AI meant rethinking how teams collaborate across the business. 'We really had to answer the question of how to be a relevant organization in the new AI world,' he says. This mindset led Endava to make OpenAI its enterprise AI platform, giving employees access to ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex.

The goal was to integrate AI into everyday work and think about it as the first solution to problems. Cloke explains that this approach has led to significant changes in how software delivery teams operate. They now use AI-assisted coding and agentic workflows, which have improved their efficiency and productivity.

DavaFlow is Endava's AI-native delivery methodology, created after developers realized that requirements gathering, business analysis, planning, and stakeholder coordination needed to move faster too. The adoption of DavaFlow embeds OpenAI technology throughout its entire lifecycle – from meeting preparation and business planning to product discovery, software engineering, and deployment.

Commercial teams replaced spreadsheet-heavy planning exercises with lightweight AI-generated applications. In one internal pricing discussion, employees skipped spreadsheets entirely and built a single-page pricing app that teams could interact with immediately. 'It changed the conversation completely,' Cloke says. This shift has streamlined their work and improved collaboration among team members.

As Endava rolled out AI across its 11,000-person global workforce, several principles emerged: combining models, agents, workflows, and human expertise into integrated systems. Leadership teams use AI to summarize projects, automate communications, manage inboxes, and coordinate work asynchronously.

Endava sees the next phase of enterprise AI centered around orchestration – fundamentally reshaping how organizations operate. 'We're really excited about the workflows that can be created by combining these tools,' Cloke says. From reasoning models to automation and collaboration, Endava believes AI is becoming more than a productivity layer; it's becoming the operating model itself.

For organizations still early in their AI journey, Cloke advises starting with personal use of the technology: 'The future arrived – you just have to lean into it.' This approach will help them understand how AI can be integrated into their daily work and eventually transform their organization.
