Descartes Helps Forefront Global Logistics Automate Freight Execution with AI-Enabled Digital Brokerage
Forefront Global Logistics has teamed up with Descartes Systems Group to create an AI-powered digital freight brokerage that simplifies the process of finding and booking shipments. The partnership aims to reduce exposure to fraud risks by automating key tasks, including shipment visibility, carrier onboarding, and order entry.
FGL is using a suite of transportation management tools from Descartes to oversee its entire logistics operation. This system allows them to automate various processes, such as carrier selection, dispatch, and communications, which has increased brokerage throughput significantly.
Descartes’ platform includes several essential components that support FGL’s digital freight brokerage. The Aljex module automates workflows from order entry through to dispatch and communication, increasing the efficiency of their operations. MacroPoint provides multimodal shipment visibility, capacity sourcing, and access to a global carrier network, while OpsForce uses AI agents to automate tasks like shipment engagement, tracking continuity, exception handling, and documentation collection.
The MyCarrierPortal component helps FGL maintain strong relationships with its carriers by supporting carrier vetting, automated onboarding, risk monitoring, fraud prevention, and access to verified carrier networks. This also reduces the risk of fraudulent activity and allows them to focus on growing their business.
Andrew Wimer, associate GM of transportation management at Descartes, said that they’re pleased their platform is helping FGL support its rapidly expanding brokerage operations. He noted that leading freight brokers are increasingly relying on AI-enabled operating platforms rather than using separate transportation tools, which can be disconnected and difficult to manage.
