ServiceNow Unveils AI Passport for Enterprise Agent Governance
ServiceNow, a leading provider of cloud software for automating workflows across HR, IT, and other internal processes, has announced the launch of its next-generation employee-centric AI harness. This new tool allows staff to build specialized workplace agents without coding expertise. The company introduced two tools as part of this initiative: EmployeeWorks and ToolSmith. These tools enable employees to configure custom AI agents within existing ServiceNow workflows.
The introduction of these employee agent builders is just one aspect of how ServiceNow is reshaping enterprise AI governance and use. According to the company, its new AI Passport and employee agent builders only tell part of this story. In fact, there are three other significant developments that highlight ServiceNow’s efforts in this area. These launches point to a broader shift in how AI infrastructure is being built and monetized across large enterprises.
ServiceNow’s cloud software helps large organizations automate various internal processes. The new employee-centric AI tools plug directly into areas where staff already request support and complete routine tasks. This existing footprint allows ServiceNow to embed more AI governance directly into day-to-day operations. By doing so, the company is leveraging its scale as one of the larger US software providers.
The introduction of AI Passport ties directly into two key pillars of ServiceNow’s current narrative: scaling AI Annual Contract Value (ACV) and security catalysts. With AI Passport, large customers now have a way to keep multi-agent workflows governed, audited, and cryptographically controlled. This speaks to the goal of AI ACV reaching a larger share of total contract value. Additionally, it leans into the security and risk workflow catalyst tied to Armis and Veza by turning rogue or misconfigured agents into governed assets that can be found, flagged, and shut down.
One key data point to watch is how management quantifies AI ACV on upcoming earnings calls. Specifically, investors will be looking for whether AI-related contract value moves meaningfully higher from the $1 billion level disclosed for Q2 2026 as AI Passport, shadow AI detection, and AI Cost Management reach general availability in Q4 2026.
