NVIDIA Expands Access to Advanced Technology for Europe's Scientific Community

·

NVIDIA has announced its commitment to expanding access to advanced technology for Europe’s scientific community, with a range of initiatives aimed at supporting researchers and startups. The company is joining the European Commission’s AI in Science Enablers Initiative, which brings together private-sector support and resources for research communities across the continent.

The initiative focuses on providing access to accelerated tools, models, and platforms; compute, cloud resources, data, and scientific resources; skills, training, and technical support; collaborative projects and pilots; and support for startups and ecosystem development. This comprehensive approach aims to address the challenges faced by smaller labs, early-career scientists, and science-based startups in accessing cutting-edge technology.

The European Commission’s AI in Science Enablers campaign is a shared framework connected to RAISE - the Resource for AI Science in Europe. The initiative recognizes that turning accelerated computing’s potential into scientific progress requires more than just breakthrough technology; it also demands access to tools, expertise, and resources. By bringing together research communities, industry partners, and other stakeholders, the campaign aims to create a collaborative environment that fosters innovation.

NVIDIA is contributing significantly to this effort by providing open source technology, including over 250 open models, 250 open datasets, and more than 1,400 open source software projects. These resources span large language models, healthcare, robotics, climate science, physical AI, autonomous vehicles, and scientific research. The company has made these tools available on Hugging Face and GitHub, creating a shared ecosystem for researchers to build upon.

The NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute has also launched an open source courseware hub with hands-on materials covering accelerated computing and deep learning. This comprehensive resource is freely downloadable and openly licensed, eliminating barriers such as enrollment fees or deadlines. The modular design of the courses allows them to be adapted for various settings, including university curricula, supercomputing center bootcamps, or developer community events.

NVIDIA’s commitment extends beyond open source technology and training resources. The company is collaborating with cloud infrastructure partners and European national AI factories to provide access to sovereign compute and services. This collaboration includes initiatives in France, Spain, and Sweden, where startups and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can tap into high-performance infrastructure and technological education.

The NVIDIA Inception program for startups provides access to compute resources and technical support, lowering the barrier to entry for those seeking advanced technology. The company has already seen strong results from its collaboration with AI2F in France, which ran a pilot initiative before rolling out its first full accelerator program. Other European national AI factories are now expressing interest in replicating this model.

NVIDIA is also powering Europe’s most ambitious expansion of AI infrastructure to date, with 35 supercomputers currently under development across the continent. This largest single-year buildout of supercomputing capacity will equip over 3 million researchers with next-generation infrastructure, accelerating discovery across domains from climate science and drug development to materials research.

The European Commission’s RAISE Pledging Initiative is a key component of this effort, bringing together industry partners, research communities, and other stakeholders to create a collaborative environment that fosters innovation. By providing access to advanced technology, training resources, and infrastructure, NVIDIA and its partners aim to support the growth of AI-driven scientific progress across Europe.
