Meta Releases Frontier Model Muse Wonder
Meta’s Superintelligence Lab has made significant strides in artificial intelligence with the release of its first frontier model, Muse Wonder. This new state-of-the-art model is part of a pair, along with Muse Wonder Full, which represents Meta’s attempt to push the boundaries of AI capabilities.
The development of Muse Wonder and its larger counterpart, Muse Wonder Full, marks a significant shift from previous models like Muse Spark. While Muse Spark was designed for low-latency performance, the Wonder models are more substantial and capable, boasting higher benchmark scores and improved results on complex tasks such as coding.
According to Meta’s testing, presented in the model card, both Wonder models achieve comparable benchmark scores to Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra. This achievement is a testament to the company’s efforts to create more advanced AI capabilities. The scale of this progress is reflected in the pricing: accessed through the Meta Model API, Muse Wonder will cost $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens, making it roughly equivalent in cost to GPT-6 Sol or Opus 5.5.
The availability of these models also highlights their intended use cases. While both can be used for various tasks, only the larger model, Muse Wonder Full, will be available exclusively to subscribers of Meta’s Muse Code service and will not be served through the API. This strategic decision underscores Meta’s focus on developing personal assistants that can perform complex tasks over extended periods.
Meta has placed significant emphasis on the new models’ ability to retain and synthesize information provided by users, a property they call ‘active memory.’ To achieve better recall, Meta highlighted the MemoryBench benchmark, which challenges continual learning and memory construction frameworks. According to the company’s testing, Muse Wonder now scores higher on MemoryBench than Fable, Opus, or Astra.
The development of these models is part of a broader effort by Meta to create more advanced AI capabilities. Since Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang restructured Meta’s AI efforts in August last year, the company has released its lightweight Muse Spark model and the Muse agent but avoided releasing state-of-the-art models like this until now.
