Google Releases Gemini 4 Argon with Ambitious Claims
After months of lagging behind industry leaders, Google has finally released the Gemini 4 Argon model. This highly anticipated AI system promises to shake up the frontier AI landscape.
According to Google’s claims, Gemini 4 Argon delivers enhanced capabilities across complex workflows like coding, cybersecurity, science, finance, and law. The company says this new model significantly reduces errors compared to its predecessors, a problem that has plagued AI chatbots in the past by allowing them to spew out repetition and clichés.
Google asserts that Gemini 4 Argon outperforms rival models like GPT-6 Astra from OpenAI, Claude Fable 5.1, and Claude Opus 5.5 across various benchmarks. The company is already putting this new model to use internally for tasks such as identifying cybersecurity vulnerabilities, slashing the computing power needed to run YouTube’s comments section in half, and debugging a drone physics simulator for Alphabet’s Wing delivery service.
The Gemini 4 Argon will be rolled out today to Google’s higher-tier Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app and AI mode in Search. It’ll also be available on the company’s Antigravity platform for Ultra subscribers. However, there is no clear timeline when or if this model will become accessible to Plus subscribers or free users.
Google has priced Gemini 4 Argon competitively, with an introductory price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. This pricing strategy puts the company in a more affordable position compared to OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra and Anthropic’s Fable 5 models, which are around five times pricier on a per-token basis.
