Google Expands AI Features on Play Store, Introduces Game Finder
Google has been steadily incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) features into its Play Store, and the latest additions are designed to make it easier for users to discover new apps and games. One of these features is Ask Play, a chatbot interface that was first released in 2025 as part of app listings on the Play Store. Initially, Ask Play allowed users to ask questions about an app or game by typing them manually or selecting from suggested queries.
However, starting today, Ask Play is expanding its capabilities to become a more general search tool for apps and games. Users can now ask the chatbot questions, which will generate recommendations that may include detailed comparison charts. This expanded feature is expected to provide users with more comprehensive information about available apps and games, making it easier for them to find what they’re looking for.
In addition to Ask Play’s expansion, Google has also announced a new AI-powered recommendation engine called Game Finder. This tool uses data from the 1.2 billion people who play games on Android devices to build profiles of users’ gaming preferences and match them with other players who have similar tastes. The system is based on an algorithm that creates a unique ‘Gamer DNA’ profile for each user, which can be adjusted by rating the games played.
Game Finder also allows users to create playlists of their favorite games or browse through lists categorized by genre, such as relaxing titles or trending releases. Furthermore, users can add or remove tags from their profiles to fine-tune the recommendations provided by Game Finder’s AI system. Although Google has not specified exactly how much customization will be available at launch, it is expected that users will eventually be able to input specific game preferences when prompting Game Finder for suggestions.
